The FT140-43 and FT240-43 cores are the best choice for shortwave range (1–30 MHz).
Material 43 offers excellent stray current suppression, resulting in cleaner reception and minimized RFI interference.
For designs requiring operation at higher frequencies or minimal internal losses, the FT240-61 core is the ideal solution. It provides excellent stability from 10 to 200 MHz, making it a favorite for designs above the 20m band.
A key advantage of our cores is their stackability. By stacking two or more cores, you significantly increase their high-power handling capacity, allowing for safe operation in the QRO standard without the risk of overheating or magnetic saturation.
Using FT140-43 and FT240-43 cores as ferrite choke baluns is one of the most effective ways to combat RFI interference in radioshack. Thanks to the high impedance of the 43 material in the shortwave range, these cores are ideal for filtering control cables and computer interfaces such as USB, HDMI, and Ethernet.
Wrapping several turns of cable around the core effectively blocks stray currents, which often cause computers, mice, and routers to freeze during high-power transmissions. The FT240-43, thanks to its larger diameter, is particularly practical because it allows for re-wiring with factory plugs without having to cut them. This is a professional and non-invasive method for protecting sensitive electronics controlling rotators or antenna switches from the effects of high-frequency fields.
